Viracocha Show Streaming Live Online

Sunday, December 15th – 8pm (PST)

We would love to have you all join us in the flesh this Sunday at Viracocha in San Francisco. But if you can’t make it, you can still catch the show streaming live online, and it will be a show to remember! With the soulful Viola Booth opening the night and special guest Suzanne Holland taking the stage second, as well as joining the choir later for The Window, we expect this end of the year performance to bring us all to tears at one point or another. This event is a fund raiser for Viracocha as they work towards improving their amazing event space.

With the help of our friends at 2ndLine.tv the entire show will be available for live streaming on a Pay-What-You-Will basis (suggested $10 donation). This will be a one-time viewing opportunity, the show will not be re-aired. It’s really easy to sign in and start streaming straight away. All proceeds go towards the Viracocha fund raiser. Conspiracy at Viracocha

On Sunday, December 15th the choir will conspire once again at Viracocha, one of San Francisco’s most unique spaces for music and creativity.  The event is a fund raiser for this amazing arts hub in the mission district as they prepare to transition from a secret venue to something more. With Viola Booth supporting, this evening of music is set to be an unforgettable and exceptional folk and soul journey. The show starts at 8pm. Point Reyes Station – Sunday, December 1st

The Conspiracy will be spending the day in Point Reyes Station on Sunday, December 1st. We’ll start the afternoon off with a live studio performance on KWMR 90.5 FM in Point Reyes and 89.9 FM in Bolinas from 4-6pm. Brian Kirven’s show “Learnin’ Kirven” will host Sylvie Simmons, acclaimed author of the 2012 Leonard Cohen Biography, “I’m Your Man: The Life of Leonard Cohen“. The Conspiracy of Beards will be in the studio singing Leonard Cohen classics to compliment the author’s interview. You can listen live online here – KWMR Live Online.

Following our live radio performance we will mosey down the road and conspire at the Dance Palace Community Center in Point Reyes Station (Map) for an evening of song. The show starts at 7pm with Sylvie Simmons sharing some of here Leonard Cohen biography and maybe singing a Cohen song or two with her ukelele. Next, Arann Harris and the Farm Band will play their mix of old time blues, jazz, folk, mountain music, funk and campfire songs unlike any you’ve ever heard. The Conspiracy of Beards will headline with their unique 4- and 5-part harmony, a cappella arrangements of the poetic songs of Leonard Cohen. Two Shows Saturday October 19th

The Beards will be singing twice this Saturday as we kick off out 11th season in San Francisco. First we will be performing on Sedge Thomson’s West Coast Live radio program airing on KALW 91.7FM from 10am-12pm. You can even join us at the San Francisco Ferry Building to watch this live radio show happen. This is a special Litquake episode and we will sharing the bill with authors T.C. Boyle and Eric Puchner, as well as the creative vocal group The Bobs.

Then, Saturday evening at 7pm we will be performing at Fellow Barber Shop at the corner of Valencia and 18th St. as part of this years Lit Crawl event happening all over the Mission Neighborhood. Join us at 696 Valencia St. for this unique show. We will be adding some of Leonard Cohen’s poetry to our set to spice things up. Bring a friend!

To help kick off our 2013/14 season and to promote our participation in Litquake’s San Francisco Lit Crawl event later that same evening, the Beards return to Sedge Thomson’s West Coast Live radio program to sing and play. This episode, performed live at the SF Ferry Building and airing on KALW 91.7FM as well as many other stations around the country, will be a Litquake special, and we are excited to share the airwaves with two other amazing Lit Crawl participants:TC BOYLE: the beloved California writer joins us to release the second volume of his collected short stories Collected Stories Vol II.ERIC PUCHNER: the critically acclaimed author of Music Through the Floor brings us his achingly tender and funny portrait of an unraveling family in Model Home.

Fellow Barber Shop

Lit Crawl
Saturday, October 19th – 7pm
The Beards singing in a barber shop? Yep, and one of us might even get a trim. We will be performing at Fellow Barber Shop (F.S.C. Barber – 696 Valencia St, SF) as part of Litquake’s 2013 Lit Crawl, a three phase literary event, much like a pub crawl, that happens at venues all over the city. We plan to mix it up a bit and add splashes of Leonard Cohen’s poetry in with our set. We go on at about 7pm as part of phase two of Lit Crawl.Lit Crawl 2013, spread over more than three hours, will host live readings of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and more in bookstores, bars, art galleries, restaurants, stores, cafés, a bowling alley, and community spaces.Join the Facebook Event Page for this performance.

Conspiracy of Beards is confirmed for a show at the F.S.C. Barber shop on Valencia St. this coming October as part of this year’s Lit Crawl, a city-wide, one night literary event that happens at venues all over San Francisco. In preparation for that event, a small ensemble of Beards will be performing this coming Friday, July 19th, at Lit Tease: A Sneak Preview and Fundraiser for Litquake’s Lit Crawl, at The Swedish American Hall. The event kicks off  with the Beards at 8pm.

Come support and catch some lovely entertainment including comedy, music, poetry, and literary readings with master of ceremonies author and ever-hilarious comedian Zahra Noorbakhsh, the music of Mark Growden Trio as well as a cross-section of 2013 Lit Crawl curators, including Dorinda Vassigh reading for The Day My Nipple Fell Off, AfroSurreal‘s D. Scot Miller, Keith Ekiss from Translate This: Contemporary Writing in Translation, Hyphen magazine’s Brynn Saito, Kelly Luce for A Strange Object, Barbara Mossberg reading for Tupelo Press, Casey McAlduff for the International Poetry Library, and Michelle Tea reading for McSweeney’s.

The final show of our tenth anniversary season is part of an intriguing experiment. Check out the description of the event space below.

We will start the evening at 7pm with a screening of our 2011/2012 season documentary dvd, A Midnight Choir. This will be followed by a performance by the unique harmonica trio, Tin Sandwich. Then the Beards will sing. We plan to add some very experimental arrangements to the set, so expect the unexpected. This is a FREE event.

A description of the event space…

[ freespace ] is a month-long pop-up community center focused on hacking the civic experience. It is hosted in a 14,000 sqft warehouse in SOMA, San Francisco, envisioned and implemented entirely by you! [ freespace ] is open to the entire bay area, so please come by and make your mark.

Our mission is to foster creativity, community, and civic innovation through the gift of free space.

Throughout the month we’ll be home base for a wide array of events and projects, including but not limited to classes, music, art, yoga, silent discos, free bike-share, community engagement and field trips, and more than a few silly costumes. The power and success of [ freespace ] is a direct result of the energy freely contributed by a diverse range of every day citizens – everything that happens here is created by someone like you.

International Rivers’ Rendezvous for Rivers Benefit Concert

This Sunday, June 9th,  join us at Public Works SF for a benefit event to help support International Rivers. International Rivers works to protect rivers and rights, and promote real solutions for meeting water, energy and flood management needs around the globe. Join us for this benefit and celebration for an amazing organization doing amazing work. Headlined by Rupa & the April Fishes, this year, International Rivers will be hosting amazing artists and performers as well as some of the Bay Area’s best food truck bites for you to nosh on. Your ticket purchase will not only gain you entry to the exciting Rendezvous for Rivers, but will also get you a membership with International Rivers and secure your place as part of the movement for healthy rivers and human rights. Also this Sunday….

We are honored to perform at the Contemporary Jewish Museum  for a community welcome to the new Executive Director Lori Starr and a commemoration of the CJM’s five-year anniversary. Conspiracy of Beards, True Life Trio, and Porto Franco Klezmer All-Stars; as well as arts and crafts, music and dancing, poetry and magic, and food and drink. We go on at 1:45.

Museum admission is free all day, 11am–5pm.

The Beards are about to conspire in New York City from May 24-26! We have four shows starting this Friday night with a free warm-up performance at 6pm at Jack Hanley Gallery. From there we head to DROM for a full set show that evening at 7pm with our friend and extremely talented musician Shana Falana supporting in a solo performance. On Saturday at 8pm we are at Cloud City (formerly Dead Herring) with Tall Tall Trees opening. This is a $5 show that will blow your mind! And then on Sunday we have a special 12pm Matinee performance at the Highline Ballroom with the amazing Mamie Minch and Her Business kicking things off! Come join us if you can and tell your NY friends we are coming.
