Conspiracy of Beards heads to the North Bay Area one last time before we take the summer off. Please join us on Thursday, May 8th in Petaluma at The Mystic Theatre for an evening of high energy harmony and song with the very talented Misner & Smith opening the evening. The show will be hosted and emceed by our local friend, and the hardest working man in folk, Arann Harris of Arann Harris and the Farm Band.
Conspiracy of Beards has traveled to New York City annually for the last 6 years for a show at the Highline Ballroom, and every year Esther Cohen, Leonard Cohen‘s sister, and her friends have come to our performance. Esther is one of the sweetest and most supportive fans of the choir. This year the choir decided to focus on touring the greater Bay Area and to skip the NY trip. Our only regret is not being able to serenade our friend Esther. Here is a short clip of Esther from our documentary project “A Midnight Choir.”

Conspiracy of Beards, a choir of men singing Leonard Cohen‘s poetic music in energized 4 and 5 part a cappella harmony, will be bringing their show to McNears’s Mystic Theatre in Petaluma.
Misner & Smith will open the evening. Crafting songs rich in meaning and texture, Misner & Smith’s sound is anchored by their unique vocal harmonies and evocative lyrics.

Our next performance is a FREE celebration event for the San Francisco Girls Chorus‘s Kanbar Center, the space that many local choruses and musicians use for rehearsal. Conspiracy of Venus, Chanticleer LAB Choir, Musae, and Cypress String Quartet will all perform and there will be all sorts of activities and fun. Bring your family and friends Saturday, April 26th from 1:30-7:30pm. Conspiracy of Beards sings at 6pm.

KALW Re-airing Conspiracy of Beards Appearance Saturday, March 22nd
Our October performance on Sedge Thomson’s West Coast Live radio show will be re-airing on KALW 91.7FM from 10am to 12pm Saturday, March 22nd. They will be plugging our April 3rd show with Sean Hayes at The Chapel in San Francisco, as well as our sister choir, Conspiracy of Venus‘s April 5th show at The Starry Plough. In 2012 Conspiracy of Beards sang at Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn, NY with the high energy klezmer explosion that is Golem! What a great show! Here’s a short video.
